“In the End, we’ll all become Stories” – Margaret Atwood

“Write what should not be forgotten” – Isabel Allende

“The universe is made up of stories, not atoms” – Muriel Rukeyser

“Start writing, no matter what. The water does not flow until the faucet is turned on” – Louis L’Amour

If you have never done this before, writing about your running, or anything for that matter, may seem complicated, with way too many unknowns to deal with. Not everyone can write well, or may not know how to structure their thoughts, let along put a book together.

I can help you with all of that – from providing advice and helping you with your writing process and book creation – to actually writing the book for you, or getting your book published. Some people can write, and write well, but they may simply not have the time to put the work into making a book happen.

There is a spectrum of possibilities.

There are lots of different options to consider. I’m happy to give you a free consultation (with zero expectations) about what you’re interesting in doing and what’s required.

If you want to engage my services, I’ll prepare a quote based on our conversation and we’ll go from there. My hourly rate is typically somewhere between $50 – $75 an hour.

Send me an email and tell me what you’d like to do, and we can set up a call to discuss.

I’ll get back to you within a day or two.

Anything is possible!

Here’s some examples from my previous clients:

Client #1 – Even though one of my clients had completed dozens of blog posts about his running experiences, he had trouble writing – putting it all together, telling the story. I used his vast blog posting material as a foundation for my editing, additions and so on. Along with photos and many calls and email exchanges, we got the final draft completed. At that point, he took over the production side of things and got his book published.

Client #2 – Another client could not write well at all but wanted the story of his life to be told, and around his incredible running and life experiences. A lot of the material that was developed came from me interviewing him – I took notes and wrote them up into something readable. It worked really, really well. He had great insights and interesting and amazing stories to tell – verbally – but he couldn’t describe his life or express himself with the written word.

Clients #3 & 4 – I have worked with two international running clubs to create books from their members’  running stories. A request went out to members asking if they could submit articles about their running experiences so that they could be put together to show others what they have done, why they did it and the benefits gained. I worked with the runner-authors of dozens of articles, improving and editing their work as well as asking about missing details, or sentences that were confusing … that sort of thing. I was privileged to be part of that process because I met so many amazing people and learned a lot about the human condition.

Client #5 – Another client had a clear sense of what she wanted to do, but by the end of it we had put another completely different book altogether and had also started working on a different project entirely.

Client #6 – A client from the United Kingdom wanted to write a book, so he would send me an 1-2 page update each week on his running adventures from the weekend (he raced almost every weekend). I ended up editing a calendar year’s worth of his running experiences and returned ‘the draft book’ back to him.

I’m able to provide the full suite of services so that you will have a quality published book. At the other end of the spectrum, I can guide you through your own writing process – as a writing coach, if you like. OR, I can provide you with a free consultation so you can better understand what’s involved. There are lots of other options that can fit your needs.

As I said above, anything is possible.

So, please, get in touch!

I will provide you with valuable information so you can make an informed decision about what you would like to do. I’m biased, but I believe that writing about your running experiences is a fantastic, illuminating and rewarding experience.

A book, or articles, celebrate achievements and record amazing memories. A book is something that can be shared with family and friends as well as a way to leave a legacy for family members who are either too young to know about your running or not yet born!

More simply though, a book about your running (and life because they’re intertwined) is a proud record FOR YOU of your own achievements and experiences, an account of your life to have and enjoy and keep for reflection when you’re in the later years of your life.

Thanks,

Malcolm
